Re: Any tips on speeding up finding duplicate images?

If you are checking for duplicates in your own collection on a regular basis, What are the DIFFERENCES you are looking for between images?
I can probably help you when I know the answer.

Re: Results not updating after moving duplicates

I use this application constantly, and do extensive testing. I just launched a photo de-duping courses.
The only time what you're describing has ever happened to me is if I clicked 'Copy' instead of 'Move'.

Re: How to save a preset (to context menu)?

On the Home tab you can use 'Load and Save Scan'.
Configure your scan on the Scan Criteria tab, then go the the Home tab and save it.
Next time you want to do the same scan, load it from the Home tab.

NEW Duplicate Photo Removal Course!

I just launched a course called Whoop De-Dupe Photo Part 2 https://courses.photoorganizingstuff.com/courses/whoop-de-dupe-photo-part-2 , It's the 6th course in the Legacy Workflow series for Professional Photo Organizers and Photo Managers (but several DIY students have enrolled).

The course ...

Re: Are same files on different drives considered to be group?

On the Scan Location tab, you can set folders to find duplicates 'External Only', but you can't set Drives to 'External only'.
If the files on each drive are all in the SAME folder, just add the folder from each drive to the 'Folders to Search' on the Scan Location tab and set it to 'External only ...

Re: Feature Request: Cut and Paste

J-Toresen,
I use Dopus also.
When I want to move files I see in DCP5 to a different folder, I right-click the destination folder name in DOpus, choose 'copy full path name' from the context menu, and then paste that path into the filed in the File removal tab. Then I click 'Move'.
Will that help ...

Re: Selecting entire groups to be marked

bsacco,
Because the purpose of the application is to remove Duplicates, marking all files in a group goes against the logic.
However, if you simply don't want to keep them, do this:
1: Mark all but one file in each group.
2: Filter to 'Group has mark'.
3: Select all filtered files.
4: Right-click ...

Soeroah,
I understand you goal. That is not currently possible, but I would like that feature as well. I was just trying to help you achieve your goal with the application as it is now.

Re: Best practice when dealing with millions of photos

I too have had to restart the process but nowhere near the timescales/size of what you are doing

My advice is to stop and take the hit (and maybe learning), time-wise

Noted you've renamed them, I use a shorter format - YYMMDD fyi. Again be careful of extending file names and paths, number of ...

Re: Best practice when dealing with millions of photos

I'm not exactly sure why this program has zero support. I mean, why have a forum if you don't respond to customer questions?

I am very disappointed and feel betrayed as a paying customer.

De-duping photos accurately and thoroughly is incredibly complicated. There are so many situations and ...
