Re: Find duplicates based file name only
Thanks. That was the way I went initially, but I saw that "Match date only" was checked and could not be unchecked. That confused me.
Matter solved.
Thanks again!

Find duplicates based file name only
I have quite a lot of files that have converted from Excel to PDF.
Often they are more or less in the same sub folders.
As they are converted, they have different sizes and the modified date may also differ.
I want to search on duplicate file names only (file names without extension)
ignore date ...

How to save a preset (to context menu)?
Say I have the below scan criteria
- same file extension
- same date (ignore time)
- CRC32
Is there a way to 'save' this as a preset?
and . . . (IF it is possible)
Is there a way to add this preset to Duplicate Cleaner Context menu?
(as a sub item)
Within Windows Explorer I would then select a ...

Re: Only delete duplicates of files in folder x:\ found elsewhere
Just to say thanks again.
Things worked out just fine!
Frankly, I wouldn't have figured this out myself.
Best regards and keep up the good work.

Re: Only delete duplicates of files in folder x:\ found elsewhere
Thanks - well, actually I went on to do the first suggestion.
I believe that went fine, but am still busy with it.
(Something else came up, so I'll finish it tomorrow)

Re: Only delete duplicates of files in folder x:\ found elsewhere
Thank you very much indeed!
I'll give it a try later.
Initially I messed up things: folder1 untouched, but folder 2 all duplicates are deleted, but that was not correct of course.
So I am restoring folder2, from a backup.

Only delete duplicates of files in folder x:\ found elsewhere
Two folders:
X:\Folder1
Y:\Folder2
both folder1 and folder2 with sub folders.
Talking about many files (60,000 or so).
Folder1 has files with duplicates elsewhere in folder2.
The files in folder1 should not be touched. However, the duplicates of the files in folder1 that are found in folder2 ...

Are same files on different drives considered to be group?
I want to delete .bak files in case non-bak are available.
e.g. same size, same date, everything the same except for the file extension.
blah-blah.bak.docx
blah-blah.docx
search for images
from the result I have files with "bak.docx" marked.
they are on different drives
but all are marked and so ...
