Are same files on different drives considered to be group?

Post by dcwul62 »

I want to delete .bak files in case non-bak are available.
e.g. same size, same date, everything the same except for the file extension.
blah-blah.bak.docx
blah-blah.docx

search for images
from the result I have files with "bak.docx" marked.
they are on different drives
but all are marked and so Duplicate Cleaner reports : xxx groups have ALL copies of duplicate files marked

see below

maybe, in the case of different drives, the warning should not pop-up?

Thanks.

On the Scan Location tab, you can set folders to find duplicates 'External Only', but you can't set Drives to 'External only'.
If the files on each drive are all in the SAME folder, just add the folder from each drive to the 'Folders to Search' on the Scan Location tab and set it to 'External only'.
If files on each drive are in different folders, you could move the folders to one temporary 'holding' folder for each drive, then add the 'holding' folder for each drive to the 'Folders to Search' area and set them to 'External only'.

THANK you. Frankly, I wasn't aware of that option.
Super.
Again, many thanks!
