The settings tab contains general settings which affect the entire application. It also contains sub-tabs for changing program presets and UI themes. Program version, credits and software updates can be found on the About tab.
All settings on this tab are instantly applied when clicked. The settings are saved when the program closes.
General settings
Show toolbar - Displays a quick-access toolbar at the top of the application window
Confirm on exit - Prompts before closing application
Suppress all confirmation prompts - The program will not ask for confirmation before certain tasks (deleting files, for instance). Use with caution!
Show results of last scan on start - The results of the last scan are loaded when the program starts. Otherwise they are deleted.
Notification sounds - Turn notification sounds on or off.
Automatically check for new updates - check for program updates on starting (Requires internet connection).
Automatically hide duplicate groups when one file remaining - When checked, Duplicate Cleaner will automatically remove a group in the Duplicate files list when there is only one member left. For example - after a file removal operation, removed files are dropped from the main duplicate files list. When this option is checked, groups consisting of one file will also be dropped from the list (the remaining file is no longer a duplicate).
Allow direct deletion from duplicate lists - Enables deletion of selected files directly from the duplicate files list by hitting the Del key or using the context menu.
Use internal viewers where available - Built in Image, Video or Audio players are used when double-clicking on a file. Otherwise the file is sent to the default Windows application.
Archive/Zip files temporary space limit - A recommended maximum amount of space to use in the temporary folder for unzipping files for scanning. Note this limit may be exceeded in the case of scanning larger files or using the Byte-by-byte comparison mode. All space is freed up upon the scan completing.
Caching
Use caching for calculated hashes - this setting will write all calculated hash data to a file. This cache is then be used to speed up subsequent scans.
Clear cache - Displays the contents cache folder - cache files need to be deleted manually in Windows explorer
Reset all settings and data - Clicking this will restart the program, restoring all settings to 'newly installed' conditions. It will not remove Virtual folders. or saved scans.
