HOW DO I KNOW THAT I HAVE KEPT SOME OF THE DUPLICATES
HOW DO I KNOW THAT I HAVE KEPT SOME OF THE DUPLICATES
I read the instructions, and while they all sound interesting and seem to solve my problems, upon further readings, they seem to state that it is possiable that some of my duplicates that were once erased are the only copies that i have and I needed to keep them.I have over 40 copies of some photographs and video files. My first scan listed 78 gigs of duplicates. i wanted to erase them but need to be assured that at least one copy will remain. Some scans list square photgraphic images, but I can not seee any files. they, ( the instructors) need to clearly indicate all the similar pictures or files and then let me know by highlight the option to keep one of the files. Also it takes hours to scan. I have already seperated my files my properties, but don't feel comfortabe or safe with this product. i guess that's why they have a trial version. it seems great, but I am still left concerned and scared.this problem has plagued me for years, i am finally getting to purchase programs that will do my work for me, I have no problem with honoring those who can make life easier for me(and everybody else) but please; help me make the easy way to do things. this problem has been going on for over ten years ! I want to do a scan, be given the files that are identical(JPG or BMP files show up as the same) ,that doesn't bother me.Then i want to be given the option to secure my "MASTER FILE" or any file that i wish to be protected and the others that i check are to be deleted. The graphics seem to indicate that this is what they are intended to do, but I need step by step safety assurances, then i will purchase the complete program.any one out there who can simply know how to scan.,,then show images, then delete?? HELP FOR A SLOW MAN IN PHILADELPHIA.

Re: HOW DO I KNOW THAT I HAVE KEPT SOME OF THE DUPLICATES
The most important thing to do when taking on a project like this is to back everything up first! A 1TB external drive is pretty cheap these days, and will give you peace of mind.
Duplicate Cleaner shows similar/same files in 'Groups' - check for the group number column. The rows are also coloured to show group number changes.
There is a safeguard built in to warn you if you are trying to delete all the files in a group (ie every copy). You can also click on the 'Groups with all files marked' button to check as well.
You can use the 'image preview' button to view the pictures in each group. If you want to sure that files are exact copies (rather than rotated, or similar), run the scan in standard mode, rather than image mode.
