CSV Import Error

Post by ZeroHero »

When I try to import a previously export of found duplicate files I get "Incorrect CSV file type/version".
I've found out, that this occurs, if you are running DC in non-English locale support, when the export is carried out.
During import - I take - the column headers are validated in respect to the vanilla english column headers!

I've had the same error importing the list of all scanned files. When trying to import duplicates though I'm getting run time errors - run-time error 13 type mismatch. This has happened with two completely different files - both of which look fine in Excel. I don't think this is anything to do with language as I'm not running in any language other than English.

I'm pretty sure that the error, I've encountered isn't caused by same as the error you describe. As soon as I manually translate the column headers from danish to english,
I can import the CSV file smoothly!

I've checked this and DC needs to have the language set the same for the import and export - so if you exported it in Danish, you need to import in Danish - it validates the column headers against the currently set language.

I managed to replicate this by modifying a group number to a blank. If you have modified the file in excel and saved back out it might cause issues as well, eg date format.

Thanks for the reply. This is a great program but the import issue is driving me to distraction as I'm trying to rationalise a slow networked drive which has files from lots of other drives stored on it and thousands of duplicates. It takes a long time to identify the duplicates and longer to work through them so being able to use th import feature would be very helpful. It's not an excel issue as when I export the file from Duplicate Cleaner and immediately try to import it and it won't work. It picks up the first 4 or 5 matches but then gives the error (on the duplicate file display this is indicated 'behind' the error message by the filename of the 10th file appearing in the path column).

I only tried loading the file in excel to make sure it was OK.

If it makes any difference I am running 64bit Windows 7.

If it's ok with you, you could send me the failing import file and I should be able to tell where the problem is and hopefully see if a bugfix is needed.

You can zip it and send to software AT digitalvolcano.co.uk - i'll treat the data as confidential.

Ok will do tonight when I get home. One thing I forgot to mention is that all the files are music files so it's using the audio search. I have deleted a lot of suplicates now so I'm running another scan today.

The problem seems to be double quotes in song/artist titles. Working on a fix!
