Date format

Post by punar »

Hello.

Can you please change the date format in the columns for File Modified and File Created to the international format.

The format shows like "2024-12-59 23.59" and makes sense when you sort things chronologically.
(actually it should be hh:mm, but file systems don't like colons, so a full stop is a good replacement).

The US date format is not ok, it's obsolete like farenheit and ounces and miles and inches and smelly feet.

Apart for the date format which might even be illegal in some modern countries, the program is one of the greatest of all time.

Cheers.

The date is stored internally in the database as a timestamp (a numeric seconds value)

The way it displayed in the duplicate files list depends on your regional settings in Windows. If you don't like it, change your settings.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I checked my regional settings in my Win 11 PC and they are all set to Norwegian standard as far as I can see (and I would be really surprised if they were otherwise). But Duplicate Cleaner still show US format dates.

I shared a screenshot collage of my settings from OneDrive here:

(I'll just note that it worked on my end, en-US.
On my end I had to go to 'Customize Format' to manually enter dd.MM.yyy
because that was not one of the default layouts presented in 'Regions and Language'
screen.)

@punar,
Other then defaulting to Norwegian, do you have other language packs installed (as in, maybe that is affecting things)?

It looks like you have Windows 7, therube. I'm on Windows 11

I have English a secondary language for Windows Store apps (which should not affect non Store apps like Duplicate Cleaner). And English spell checker in Word.
Apart from that it's all Norwegian.

I did another attempt at fixing the date formats, but still no luck.

All date and time formats everywhere in Windows are set to my regional Norwegian formats DD.MM.YYYY.
I was able to find the settings in Windows 11 to manually change the format to whatever I like, so I set the date format to YYYY-MM-DD.
Now it shows in that format in the clock in the bottom right corner of my screen and File Explorer. So the Windows settings are working fine, like they always have done.

Duplicate Cleaner however, still insists on using the MM/DD/YYYY 12.59 AM/PM format.
Could it be that Duplicate Cleaner is incompatible with Windows 11, and defaults to US date and time format when it can't find the Windows settings?
