no recycle bin on synology NAS

Post by kds »

Hi I have just deleted 20,000+ files (saving 200GB) using duplicate cleaner pro but no space has been cleared up on my Synology NAS.

I think the problem is that I the option to put the files in the recycle bin ticked, but there isn't a recycle bin one on my volume.
I have done the "delete all recycle bins" which I saw in another post but still I have not recovered any space.

Any ideas what delete cleaner would do with files if there was no recycle bin?

thanks

Often a NAS will of its own "recycle bin", outside of the host OS.
Should be an option to either turn it off altogether or (I'd imagine) you could go in & manually delete said files from its "bin" at which point the space would be reclaimed. (Suppose that would be how it works. Some day, when I actually may need to free the space, I'll look into that on my end ;-).)

My Buffalo NAS calls its "recycle bin", "trashbox".

Seemingly on Synology it is called "#recycle".
