Scrolling and selecting batches

Post by Callistemon »

Version 5 is mostly an improvement over 4, but one massive regression is that in Version 4. pressing shift, selecting a large batch of files, and then clicking the checkbox will check every selected file, but in Version 5, even when multiple files are selected, clicking the checkbox only affects the file directly underneath.

Second, the scrollbar for the "Duplicate files" and "Remaining files" tabs no longer moves or updates until the scrollbar is released, when the previous version had real-time scrolling. Rubbing up or down on the touchpad with two fingers is now too fast and has static friction before taking off. Version 4 had smooth and predictable two-finger scrolling.

I'll check this and try and fix. As a workaround you can hit space to mark/unmark all selected rows.

The live scroll updating was removed as an efficency/speed fix - I'll look at putting it in as a setting

Yes, I have been right clicking the batch and selecting from there. Unlike the previous version, it never slows down or freezes up when selecting more than 2,000 files.

It should consume more resources instead of compromising functionality, especially while scanning. Even with a fast and freshly-defragmented WD Black HDD, it still takes several hours because the CPU usage of the program never exceeds 10 to 25 percent.

I had a defective Seagate HDD (of course) that was corrupting and blocked out access every other time it was spun up. There was not enough storage anywhere else to copy everything to, so it required identifying the unique files right in the moment. I would have been totally screwed if it were not for Duplicate Cleaner Pro, as other tools would not have been enough. Data recovery probably would have costed thousands of dollars to replace the low-quality imprecise actuator. All of these minor issues are being fixed on just one request, taking far more than an hours worth of time ($30 = 1 hour). Therefore, I will buy the newer version again instead of continuing to use the license from the older version. Thank you for your time.
