Can I trust Duplicate Cleaner Free 4.1.2
Can I trust Duplicate Cleaner Free 4.1.2
Hi - I have just discovered Duplicate Cleaner Free 4.1.2. I am very pleased with this compared to other Duplicate progs I have tried. However, can I trust this - as it says I have 33,000 duplicates. That doesn't surprise me as my photos were in total disarray. The 33,000 are now in the recycle bin - but can I trust the prog that it hasn't deleted 'one of's'? Thanks.

You can trust DC.
What you cannot trust, is yourself.
IOW, DC does what you tell it to do. And if you tell it wrongly, or you misinterpret its settings or meanings, that can have negative consequences.
Say you look for duplicates in \Windows.
Yep, you'll find them for sure. But... having found "duplicates", is it safe, wise, to remove them?
In most cases, NO (because a lot of Windows are actually links, rather then duplicates, & are expected to be there as they are, & if you were to willy nilly delete them, you could end up hosing your system).

The program will warn if removing the last copy in a group. If in doubt, remember always to have a back up first!
