Hello,
I am a photographer and have a lot of images that are duplicated, so I used your free duplicate cleaner only to find out the it only looks at the file name and ignores the type as in file #1234.jpg or #1234.tif or #1234.cr2 . So, after the process, it had taken away the .tif, the .cr2 and only left the #1234.jpg. I only wanted to take out the duplicate file # and types only so if #1234.crw came up 2x that it would be removed, not all the other file types with the same #'s. Fortunately, I had the same files on another hard drive and was able to recover those files. Is there any way you can set up your program that will look at the entire file name and file type to see if duplicates exist and remove them?
Regards,
Millard
Deleting duplicate file numbers with the file extensions
Re: Deleting duplicate file numbers with the file extensions
What were your search parameters?
Suppose you were only checking by Content.
Content alone will find duplicates regardless of any file name.
So select Content AND Name.
That would find the same exact files - in different directories.
(Again, I suppose that is where your dups are to be found?)
That would find:
dir1/123.jpg
dir2/123.jpg
dir3/sub1/123.jpg
also
dir1/123.tif
dir2/123.tif
dir3/sub1/123.tif
but not
dir1/123.jpg
dir1/123.tif
because the last pair have different extensions.
(There is a RFE to exclude extensions.)

Re: Deleting duplicate file numbers with the file extensions
Thank you so much, I was not aware on the free progam that I did have a choice of content and name. I will check that out. Also,I understood most of your explanation, but being a neubie what is REF?
Thanks again, and regards,

RFE = Request for Enhancement (I think!)
The exclude extensions option is in the very latest update of Pro (3.1.3).
