Feature request: Protected folders

Post by Biep »

Rashid Doha's Duplicate File Finder 1.1.0.3 has this - one can specify a set of folders to be protected against deletion, and the program will refuse to delete any files in those folders.

Obviously, when choosing files from each group, the program ought never to choose files from protected folders.

The program does a bit of this already, e.g. protecting the Windows folder, but often one wants to go much further, as in e.g. deleting from other drives any file which has a copy on the C: or D: drive. With judicious selecting this can be achieved, but it is easy to trip up and delete the wrong members of each group.

Apart from that it seems a great program. Thanks!

Oh, and this can of course be generalised to whatever criteria the program recognises: protect files matching certain name patterns, certain sizes, certain dates, authors, titles, etc.

And to be clear: I do want these protected files to be considered - I just want their copies to be deleted, and be sure not to delete these files themselves.

Thanks again,
Biep.

You are right about that one, it actually is a great program, although I never used it to delete files, just ran some tests with it.
