I scanned for 92% images, duplicate file names, search against self using my massive folder tree..
I marked 180 odd folders (7689 files) from the Duplicate Folders tab, Clicked File Removal, and set the options :
-- Move files to new folder (which didn't exist)
-- keep folder structure
-- remove empty folders
-- automatically remove group orphans
After a confirmation to create the folder and lots of work, a message box popped up "Error Removing Folders".
Need more diagnostic information, like what folders failed, and why did the delete fail. Perhaps a log file should be viewable somewhere?
Dismissing the message, a new one appeared "1 folders(s) have been removed".
I'm not sure I expected only 1 folder to be removed, perhaps as may as 5 or 6 would have been theoretically possible. However, I didn't walk the old tree in advance to count, and 1 could be the right number... Or perhaps, a couple should have been but were not deleted thus causing the "Error Removing Folders" message.
Dismissing the message, next appeared "7689 file(s) moved/copied. Open..."
---------------------- Also, possibly related -----------------------
There were several folder groups which contained greyed out path names identified as "Contained in another group". I carefully scanned the 169 duplicate groups to see if there were any folders like the ones with greyed out names. There were not.
In other words, for "F:\a\b\c [contained in another group]", neither "F:\a\b\c" nor "F:\a\b" nor "F:\a\" were present in any other group on the Duplicate Folders tab.
Am I looking at a bug here?
And is there a way to dump these lists for review outside Duplicate Compare?

Re: Diagnostics: "Error Removing Folders" msg box
Thanks for the report.
You can turn on logging in the Options window, this will log all scans and deletions (including folder removal and associated problems) to a text file. This may shed more light on the removal issue.
If you are not sure of the containing group, you can right click on the folder (in the Duplicate folder tree) and select 'Jump to containing group'. If this fails, maybe we are looking at a bug.
The duplicate files list can be exported to CSV from the File... drop down.
