I had a crash on my system. After I recovered the system and reinstalled Duplicate Cleaner it starts up with the message "Error setting up folder tree: cannot find special directories "My Pictures".
And in reality no coherent tree gets to the the left pane.
No matter where I create and place a file with that name it won't work.
Using Windows XP Pro.Application worked fine before recovering XP. All other apps are ok.
Please help, Duplicate Cleaner is such a useful, handy and reliable tool!
Thanks!

Re: DC 2.1.0-Error setting up folder tree
Only guessing ...
Run CHKDSK.
See If that competes without mentioning any problems.
As a test, copy DuplicateCleaner.exe & lang_XX.ini into a new directory, then click on DuplicateCleaner.exe. If that works, then I'd suspect an issue with your existing DuplicateCleaner.settings file?

(lang_XX.ini: substitute the appropriate language file for you)
Nirsoft has this utility, SpecialFoldersView - Easily jump to special folders in Windows.

Would have been more apparent had you put a link to the other thread with the same issue, Bug with desktop folder redirection
.
