It would be great if TextCrawler2 would load a .txc file as an argument at the command line.
It would be nice to choose a .txc file, double click it and have the .exe come up with the .txc file loaded.
I have the .exe come up when I shell execute the .txc file, but of course it is not loaded.
Thanks,
I had to install dot Net2 to get this working to see how much better it works than the prev ver.
(don't particularly like the .NET framework).
So far this software is looking super !
txc file as an argument
Re: txc file as an argument
Glad you like it - loading txc from command line is a good idea - will add to the to-do list!
Re: txc file as an argument
That would be great !
It would be a powerful way to open TextCrawler.
Someday perhaps you would consider a portable version where all settings are saved to an .ini file.
The ini file could be edited by the user when it was desirable.
e.g.
Searching multiple folders.
A standard search for me would be to search a specific set of folders, maybe for a Command I used.
If I were working in .cmd files I would search my cmd_exe Project folders,
if I were working in C, I would want to search that set (many).
As a get-around ....
Right now I am trying to set up a project for TexTcrawler in Edit Pad Pro 7, maybe ultimately best in Ace Text. This way I would have standard info organized and I can easily paste into the TextCrawler gui for the various common searches I will do.
Really this will suffice for me.
If not an .ini to edit....... then more info in a txc file.
Your .txc files give you the Find and Replace pair on tap..., you are using the .txc file as a Library for S+R pairs to grab.
I would like to have a library of .txc files. Ea w the Folder Set to Search, and a S+R pair.
The absolute paths of the multiple folders, is the only other thing it would be handy to have on tap.
For me (and I could be unusual) the .txc file would have my folder set to search,
and I could edit it and tweak the Find or Replace pair..... exit and double click it and it would be ready to go (maybe a CL switch to auto start the search (?) if TextCrawler was started with the txc argument.
Anyway that .txc argument would be big !
Tx much, will continue to explore here !
