Re: [Suggestion] Video comparison tool, difficult but some i
I must admit I don't know the similar file names tool ability, I've used it recently and it still seemed "pedantic" and needs to be looser I think.
Movie run length depends on content of film, example could have a file exact same duration but one is rotated or one is .MKV one is .MP4 - so in that ...

[Suggestion] Video comparison tool, difficult but some ideas
Hello!
I'm thinking about a video comparison tool, I admit the work to create this would be exceedingly difficult to do accurately. HOWEVER if the onus is on the user to be distinct with the search criteria, it might help.
I might recommend a disclaimer before using this function : "warning may be ...

Re: Focusing search to just one drive but scanning all
James,
I've really been playing with version 3 a lot more than I had previously and I gotta tell you, the filtering stuff is quite powerful, I had no damn idea.
Am I missing something or is the 'selection assistant' missing in V4? Because now that I know how to use it, for the love of god, don't ...

Re: Focusing search to just one drive but scanning all
I guess the best solution here at this point has been utilising the filtering options (which I can't find in the beta for 4.0)
It seems to be doing what I need, although I have come up with a couple of ideas as I use it.

Focusing search to just one drive but scanning all
Hello,
What I'm after I'm 99% sure already exists but I don't know precisely what settings to choose to enable this.
I have 3 drives, M,N and P - 20TB of data.
I have duplicates across all drives, N: is full of duplicates of data on P: AND duplicates even on N: etc
Long story short.
I would like to ...

Bug (slight UI omission) with display results.
I did a search against *.JPG in dupcleaner pro.
I got the following 2 folders matching as entirely identical.

Technically duplicate cleaner is correct but there needs to be a more clear warning "NOTE: OTHER FILES IN DIRECTORY" or something so users don't go and nuke ...

Re: Looking for files in my smartphone
This won't work unless your phone maps as a true windows drive letter, MTP mode is insufficient.
You could put the SD card in a card reader and do it that way or you could manually copy everything from the phone, to the PC in a "phone" folder, then run the scan - you'll atr least know what's ...

Re: "Don't scan system files / folders"
Ok thanks for that. I was 2/3 in the middle of submitting a bug report as I'd done some testing and identified some files I knew to be identical and then noticed they were +S +H attributes, totally threw me for a loop and indeed was the source of the issues I was having.

"Don't scan system files / folders"
Can someone please explain this precise option in the program to me?
I know it won't scan +S (system) files if this is ticked, but what about folders? Is this SPECIFICALLY about the attribute of +S to a file / folder or will it specifically omit the C:\Windows / system32 (etc?)
I just found it had ...
