I found secret Feature of DCP 5?

OK, I think I found a secret feature with DCP5.
I have a folder on my hard drive called "Can't open files." I dump all my family photos that have an icon showing as the thumbnail or the file has some sort of corruption (green or grey blotches, etc.. etc..) when viewed in Microsoft Explorer (I'm on a Win 11 PC).
After running this folder through DCP5 using "match duplicates INTERNALLY ONLY" most of the files "magically" showed up as images.
Now, I have no idea why this happened.
Did DCP5 "fix" the headers of all the bad JPG files?
Or was it something else.
Does anyone know?
