How can one export and import ones own settings? E.g. to a new Win installation or computer? Or a preset?

You can create your own scan presets and saved states using the load and save function on the Home tab.
To export everything including caches, saved scans, virtual folders, etc, look at copying the contents of this folder:-
C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Roaming\DigitalVolcano\DuplicateCleaner\
Note you may have to enable hidden folders in the file explorer to view the AppData folder.

But they cannot be imported / exported with DC? Where is the folder containing the presets (to copy them from there)?
The state is different from "Scan"? I am confused by the "Scan" and "States" folders and the "Scan" options and "Presets".

The Scan folder contains the currently active scan
The States folder contains the saved states (You'll see the files have the name gived to the saved state).

Are the states the same as presets?

The states can be presets for scanning, but they can also be complete saved scans (including marked files, etc).

So "States" and "Scans" are identical here?

Yes, pretty much. It's just that the 'Scan' folder contains the active one.

Sorry, what does the "active one" mean? What is the active folder?

The scan folder contains the current scan - i.e. the one you are currently using.
