I downloaded version 1.3.2 from CNet because of the reviews.

I tried it on a small number of files, and it worked fine. So, I let it loose on about 100MB of files on an external drive that is loaded with duplicates. It found 50,000 or so duplicate groups.

When it was done, something about an error in an Internet connection came up on the screen. When I hit cancel (why does it need to connect to the Internet to perform tasks?), the program locked up. I had to use Windows task manager to kill it.

I'm using XP-SP3 on a machine with dual processors, plenty of RAM, and plenty of HDD space for swap files.

Is there a limit on the volume of duplicates the program can handle before it locks up?

There shouldn't be a limit - just memory.
The internet connection thing could be due to the webfolder issue (see http://www.digitalvolcano.co.uk/forum/v ... =2&topic=8)
You could also try the beta of v1.4 (see elsewhere on the forum for link)

Thanks for the suggestions. The other forum topic isn't on-point for me. I don't have the Live ID login issue. I read over the LockerGnome suggestion, and it didn't apply either -- my NetHood folder is always empty.

Will try the beta and see what happens. Also, if I can capture the actual error message, I'll post it as well.

What does spark off an attempt to access the Internet? Nothing else file management-related on my machine does that.
