Doesn't work on Win7 64bit

Post by Rumbo »

I just installed TextCrawler on my Windows7 x64 machine and found that it doesn't work there.

It starts fine and works when there's no match found. But as soon as it finds a match the application stops with an error message:
"Error in Find/Replace process!
Das Abbildungsliste-Steuerelement mu vor der Verwendung initialisiert werden"
The last sentence is German and means something like "The image list control must be initialized before use".

I rebooted after installation so that's not the problem.

Tricky - the VB6 libraries for TextCrawler are old but should work with Win 7.
It could be a DEP issue-

TextCrawler 2.0 won't have this issue as it has been built ground up using the newest .net framework - hopefully will have an initial build out for download soon.

Regarding DEP, I didn't change the default. I just checked: it's set on "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only". So I guess that's not what is in the way.

But what you write about TC 2.0 sounds very promising! Looking forward to that, thanks!

How about running it as Administrator? Does that make a difference? I'll verify how it runs on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit tonight.
