Improvements

1. This is a great piece of, hats down to its creator!
Suggestions for simply but important improvements:
2. Please remove the green "Go" from the bottom-left of the "Duplicate Files" tab. Once the scan has finished, that button is not needed anymore (especially not on the Search results page). I just pressed that button by mistake after I had selected all the duplicates for delete, and then program started the search anew, erasing all my results! 1100 duplicates manually selected!!!
3. Top-right of first tab, rename File filter button from "Select" to "Choose" or "Choose from..." or "Choose types...". "Select" can be ambiguous.
4. Hope this isn't too hard to do: having a way to copy/paste the path/address of folders to search, instead of being limited to navigating to them.
5. Again, Great program!

1- Glad you like it
2- In the next version the 'Go' button is moved to the top. It will also ask for confirmation if you try and re-scan.
3- Point taken.
4 - This feature is there already - try right-clicking on the folders to scan window and select the 'Enter folder names manually' option. You can also drag folders in directly from Windows Explorer.

Nice little software package that gets the job done... everything is straight-forward and easy to use or figure out... I like that...
However I DON'T necessarily want to delete the duplicated files. I need/want to MOVE them.
I would personally appreciate an option to move the selected items, rather than delete being the only option.
Also 1 more thing i noticed that isn't really important... the 'Search Paths' area shows all folders but does not show hidden folders. The 'Browse for Folder' button does the job thou.
Thanx heaps for a free software package with no ads or spyware the internet needs more software developers like DigitalVolcano... I look forward to the next update/release (as long as it's free LOL)

I would like to add another note...
The 'File Filter' needs alot more extensions (eg. *.flv, *.swf, *.mkv, the list goes on) to pick from or the ability to add your own extension for detecting duplicates.

Dylan: I don't understand what is wrong with the 'Move' function already built into Duplicate Cleaner.

Also - you can add your own extensions - just type them into the box!

I have some suggestions for DC that I will post individually so you or others can comment on them specifically...also I'm expecting to be interrupted at some point so I don't want to lose my train of thought. BTW, I very much like your program and even if you don't like these suggestions I will continue to use it as it is the best I have encountered in many years of computing.
Suggestion 1: On exiting the program there is a window that asks if I am sure this is what I want to do. I could see where this might be a useful reminder but it is (very, very mildly) annoying most of the time as I generally DO want to exit.
Would it be possible to have, as some programs do, a box to check in the window to not display it again? Additionally, maybe offer an Options menu choice to turn it on or off from the menu especially if I suddenly find myself regularly exiting when I really didn't want to do so.

Suggestion2: I really like how DC lets me know if I am trying to delete all the copies of a duplicated file and tells me the group number so I can check that that's really what I want to do.
But the Group column is all the way over on the right side of the display and I find it more useful to match the number with the file names if it's located between the File Name and Path columns. I know I can drag it there, but it doesn't "stick", it reverts back after I exit DC. I would like to be able to make that carry over from session to session.

Suggestion 3: I would like to be able to save my search criteria as a named set so I can switch among searches for pictures or music or whatever without the sometimes tedious task of re-locating all the different folders. Now I have to re-create the lists every time I change what I'm searching for, either from a piece of paper or from a note on the computer.
And I suppose it would be obvious to have the option to modify that saved search and keep or discard the changes when exiting or changing among different searches.

Suggestion 4: After deleting or moving files (and I don't always do all the files at once so I can keep the list manageable) there is a window that stays up labeled Delete, Move or Hard Link Files and it will say that no files are ticked. I can't tick any further until I close the window. And if I have a list of duplicates that I didn't tick any and click on the Remove Selected button the same window pops up to tell me none are ticked.
It may be that I want to delete some files, and move some others and hard link some, but I don't see the point of having that window open as I can do nothing further until it's closed. So maybe there could be (as in Suggestion 1 about the exit confirmation) an option to select whether to display this or not. Or an option to have it display for, say, 3 seconds then close on its own.
Thank you for whatever attention you think these suggestions merit; I look forward to any comments they get. And thank you for Duplicate Cleaner...whatever my suggestions might imply, I do like DC, it runs (as far as I can tell) flawlessly on my computer. It has been a big help in an on-going transition from an older desktop unit with an external backup drive to a new laptop also using the external drive. And for what it's worth, I have contributed a few dollars for the program and hope to do so again from time to time.
