Suggestion: Preserve One File in Each Group

The "Select by pattern" feature is very convenient. But sometimes it selects too much. Can I select all but one file in each group when selecting by pattern?

Could it be an "Unmark one file in each group" or a setting with "Always preserve or protect one file in each group"?
