Where can i download Duplicate Cleaner 1.43 setup? -- all the sites including Digital Volcano only offer the 2.0 version which freezes up. Didn't have this problem with 1.43 and want to check to confirm it works on the same files. Some other sites call the version 1.43 but download version 2.0

Here's the link to 1.4.3. I haven't got round to adding links to the old version on the download site yet. Work backlog!

James, Thanks that worked. Now i will retry the task on 1.47 that gave me problems on version 2 to see if it hangs or not.

Having the same problem with version 1.47 as with 2.0 that DC freezes during the checking process on an external USB 1Gb Hard Drive. I did some testing and it hangs on a some but not all .mts video files. If i scan just one folder with such a bad file it completes ok. But add a few more folders and it hangs - So maybe it hangs only when it finds a match. This pretty much destroys the utility of the dc process if any one bad file in a few hundred Gb of files and folders freezes the several hour scan. Scan process needs to be more robust with respect to these HD file types. The MTS files are AVCHD files from Panasonic Lumix Camera video. Not sure if the same problem happens with Sony m2ts video files. The bad MTS files played back ok - so are not candidates for the trash bin - only a headache for Dup Cleaner. My C drive does not have many .mts files nor m2ts files and i was able to scan it successfully.

DC shouldn't care what's in the files - it treats them as binary data. Are they huge files? If there are many very large files with exactly the same size this will slow dc down a lot (it may be processing, not hung). Try the byte-to-byte comparison type in options rather than MD5 hash. This may or may not help depending on the files!
