When I run duplicate cleaner on my Google Drive for PC it identifies many identical .ini files.
Questions: what would happen if I eliminated these files?
Alternate question: How would I exclude them from search with the file filter?

If you do not understand the reasoning behind, or you cannot determine the reason for particular sets of files being "duplicates", then you should not do anything with them.
In the particular case, I wouldn't know what they are used for, but if they're integral to GD, then I would suspect they're required, & GD would be confused by their lack (of being). If they belong to particular data that you've backed up to GD, well the same applies. Only you can determine if they are of value & whether their deletion will affect you.

Search Criteria | Search Filters | -> Excluded: *.ini
I would think that would cover it.

I would assume that these 200 identical .ini files, all with different directories are either used windows (GD for PC is on windows file explorer) or possibly GD. I have deleted them in the past without know problems.
I would like to find information as to their utility but have yet to discover a good explanation suitable for a non IT person such as myself. If anyone can enlighten me I would appreciate it.
I will exclude the files with *.ini
Thanks for your help
