I had this problem a while back. The only solution at that time was a FACTORY restore of the computer. That is not a viable option this time.

DC Pro, v 3.2.4 64-bit on W7-64. Scan Location tab shows (among other things) a networked HD but (now) there is no plus sign to expand its folder tree. This has not been the case in the past .. the + sign was there and everything worked fine.

If I enter the desired folder MANUALLY, no problem, but I cannot select a child folder from the main window. The drive in question is Drive P: (see attachment).

What I would like to try is uninstalling DC Pro .. ENTIRELY .. but when I go to reinstall, it comes up ALREADY REGISTERED ... which implies (to me), a complete uninstall did not take place. How can I, with certainty, completely remove DC Pro???

Any help with this is appreciated in advance.

Oh, that's a good question (due to, I believe, .NET, which I generally dislike).

That said, the guts of the program are in its install directory.
So if you unistall & that directory is gone, it is essentially, gone.

Now other parts, your "Profile", if you will, perhaps may be left around, but I wouldn't think that should cause an issue.

Thinking %APPDATA% Local & Roaming.
And then there is the .NET (which I generally dislike - oh I said that already ;-)) Isolated Storage (which I don't really understand).

Somewhere, your registration is being retained, but that alone certainly is not the issue & only facilitates "registration" if you need to reinstall the program (IOW you don't have to re-register, as it already knows "you").

Configuration settings are within (in XP, so might need slight adjustment in Win7) %APPDATA%\DigitalVolcano.
So you could rename the 'DigitalVolcano' directory to essentially wipe out existing settings.

Logs may exist wherever you've specified them to be stored (if you have at all).

Your session data is stored in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\DigitalVolcano, which again you could rename to essentially wipe out its history.
(I would think unchecking Options | More Options -> Show results of last scan on restart, would accomplish the same.)

That is knows your registration certainly has no bearing.

The couple other \DigitalVolcano\ directories contain settings & session data.
Suppose something there could be contributing to your issue.
But you can "delete" or rename the same & then test to see if there is any change in "P".

Perhaps because of "pogo" ? but I'd kind of expect the NAS to also show up under, Network, as something like \\NAS\... ?

Oddly, my little NAS (Buffalo) drive displays under Network, but shows a location of "C:\mnt\disk1\OFFICE" which is not valid.
(Though I can add it, by Select Location or Enter Folder Name Manually, as \\NAS\OFFICE, & that works fine. Also mapping a drive letter to the NAS works fine too.)

OUCH .... quite a task to get rid of it. Probably would not make any difference if I did ... but putting this machine back to factory is going to be very tough. Not sure what to do ... will try to get DC Pro off here ... and hope a reinstall of it will fix the problem. Thank you all for your help.

More a matter of understanding what may be stored where.
And once you realize that, simply renaming the two directories in question effectively squelches any knowledge of DC (registration aside).

From there, install again, open it up & see if it see's "P".

Yes .. I plan to give it a good try. Thank you again.

No win. Uninstalled DC Pro. Went through all the suggested folders etc. Uninstalled Pogoplug s/w. Rebooted, of course. Installed PP s/w, and DC Pro again ... and got no love.
I submitted a ticket to Support. Maybe they can help. thank you all, once again.

Re: the non-expandable drive - Duplicate Cleaner just reports what it gets back from the operating system via the .NET framework. The framework must be reporting no folders under that drive, or it is getting an access exception when trying (more likely). The only way I can think of checking this is to send you a special build which will pop up any errors.

The uninstaller will completely remove all parts of Duplicate Cleaner Pro. The license registration will stick though, as the third party license library will have stored a registration setting off in some arcane registry key. That's why it remembers your registration when you re-install.

Do you think an uninstall/reinstall of .NET would help??? I looked in Uninstall Programs and .NET 4.5.1 is uninstallable. Thank you for your quick reply.
