3.2.3 hangs for 20 minutes before opening?

Hi!

New free-version user who's been impressed enough with the software to stick with it, hoping we can get it working well enough that I would consider the paid version. I got a good day out of it before it started hanging interminably when I was simply trying to open it. Last count was 20 minutes before it opened.

(As an aside, any function that takes a few minutes - marking folders as favourites, for example - my computer shows the software as non-responsive. (i.e. spinning blue disk, "Not responding" in the window title bar, main window blacked out) I've learned from experience that it hasn't hung, it's just working - but some sort of progress bar would be great to distinguish between "still working, just taking a while" and "frozen program that needs to be CTRL-ALT-DEL-ted.")

I'm running it on a reasonably fast 64-bit 8.1 windows machine. No other programs are running slowly, and anti-virus and malware aren't picking anything up either.

Anything out of the "ordinary" with your search?
Like a HUGE number of files that its looking through?

Only guessing ... but ... as a test ...

Exit DC
Rename the file, %APPDATA%\DigitalVolcano\DuplicateCleaner\DuplicateCleaner.data to DuplicateCleaner.data.OLD
Restart DC

Any change?

%APPDATA% being a place like: C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\

(Note that by renaming that file, any program setting changes, & scan history, are reverted.)

Haha, that worked a treat! I hadn't realized it was saving my history - and I did go through a TON of files. The .data file was 500Mb. I'll just de'ete/rename it when it gets too big again. Thank you!

There is an option in the 'More Options' window - 'Show results of last scan on start'. Uncheck this and it won't restore your last scan on startup, thus making the launch time quicker.
