Can't search network files

I can't search for files on my home network using 3.2.3 Pro.
Sharing is enabled.
"Network/Seagate NAS external drive/MHP10" appears, but "MHP10" will not open, and there aren't any plus signs by "MHP10" to indicate there are any sub-folders in this directory. (There actually are sub-folders in it so I assume the "MHP10" directory is completely empty as far as DCP is concerned.)
Does it matter that the external drive on the network is NAS?
I can access this external drive with no problem on the computer on which I am running Duplicate Cleaner Pro.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Similar sounding report, Directory tree not expanding, unfortunately no real cause determined.
