F2 (Rename) Does Not Respect ESC

F2 (Rename) Does Not Respect the ESC key.
IOW, once you start to rename a file, once you have hit F2 & and made ANY change, there is no turning back, the file WILL be renamed (unless there is a naming conflict in which case the operation is aborted).
Until focus has moved from the editing field, you should be able to abort a rename change, with an ESC.
(Actually it looks like a Ctrl+Z may provide a very limited undo, but still.)
