I have Vista Home Premium.
When I try to install Duplicate Cleaner 143 as Administrator, I get the error message:
Error loading settings from registry. MSCOMCTL.OCX not correctly registered.
I would be grateful for any advice.

Try
regsvr32 C:\windows\system32\mscomctl.ocx
as administrator.
Don't run the setup file again - DC should already be installed (the error is coming from the program when it is starting up on it's first run). Try running it from the shortcut menu.

I tried:
regsvr32 C:\windows\system32\mscomctl.ocx
as administrator.
Duplicate Cleaner now starts successfully if it's not run as administrator.
However, the reason that I re-installed DC was because I was getting "delete errors" when trying to delete duplicate files.
I saw the following thread in this forum:
http://www.digitalvolcano.co.uk/forum/v ... 2&topic=93
In this thread, Ethan says that the problem was solved by running DC as administrator.
However, if I try to run DC as administrator (by right-clicking on the icon), I again get the MSCOMCTL error.
