Problem with setting "External only+Master"

Post by StefanDE »

Bug or my mistake?

Test setup

2 main folders

Folder 1 contains 4 subfolders
  • A
  • B
  • C
  • D
Folder 2 contains only one subfolder
  • A
Folders A, B, C, D contain 100 files each

Scan location settings:
  • Folder 1
    Find duplicates: Yes
- When I set this to "No", no dupes are found at all, even though there are dupes in folders A
  • Folder 2
    Find duplicates: External only+Master
Scan criteria:
  • Same Folder name
    Match depths from top: 1
When I start scanning for duplicates, I would expect that in folder 1 only subfolder A would be scanned.
But actually, also folders B,C,and D are being scanned for duplicates.

Did I make a mistake, or is this behavior a bug?

"- When I set this to "No", no dupes are found at all, even though there are dupes in folders A"

- This is correct - you are saying you don't want to find duplicates in folder 1, and folder 2 is External only.

"When I start scanning for duplicates, I would expect that in folder 1 only subfolder A would be scanned.
But actually, also folders B,C,and D are being scanned for duplicates."

The results are correct for me - only duplicates found in subfolder A.
