Hello DigitalVolcano Support,
the image preview window and its key binds are quite a mess in the current version (5.18.0).
- As noted in another topic (viewtopic.php?p=8794#p8794), the key binds work on the first group only. After switching to the next group using CTRL+left/right, the window loses focus, you have to grab the mouse, click the window and you are back to square one. Unusable.
- Switching between images in the preview window takes three times longer compared to version 4.1.3.
- The big preview image and the small thumbnails don't have any resize filter applied (like B-Spline, Lanczos). High resolution images look therefore especially bad. Version 4.1.3 uses some soft of resize filter.
- Images with the wrong file extension (jpg instead of png for instance), don't show any tag information in the image preview window. Not even resolution or color depth. Version 4.1.3 has no problem with that.
The following two problems only occur with high resolution images (>7MP):
- Unchecking the "Fit image" checkbox, doesn't show the full image. It's a less zoomed/resized version (about 72% of the original image), but still not the full image.
- The thumbnail size slider doesn't really work with big images. Only the first 3 steps change the size, but after that, the thumbnails stay at xy*96 pixels. With images <7MP the slider works perfectly.
These problems make Version 5 currently unusable for me.
Image preview window Issues
Re: Image preview window Issues
Addition to the last part (The following two problems only occur with high resolution images (>7MP)):
After some more testing, as far as I can tell, the dpi information from the image directly impact the thumbnail size as well as the preview size. The higher the dpi number, the smaller the preview image and thumbnail size.
You can have the exact same image, but once with 72 dpi and once with 300 dpi. The second image and thumbnail will show up way smaller than the first one. And if you have disproportionate dpi numbers, things get really weird.
Why???

Re: Image preview window Issues
Windows (WPF) is autoscaling the images based on the DPI values in the metadata. It's annoying and there was a hack in the program to fix this, but it got broken on the last update. Will fix for version 5.19
