Check for corrupted files.

Post by galtrold »

Hi,
I have a tons of files from old disks and drives i need to clean/sort and your product looks like a good solution for this task. Before purchasing i have one question.

Many years ago I had similar task (don't remember what softweare i used). After finding and deleting all duplicates I realized that some of the files that the software had preserved were corrupted :( and healthy files were deleted.

Can Duplicate Cleaner check for corrupted files? I read something about using byte comparison solving this problem since the software needs to read the entire file and not just relying on meta data but that would potentially just flag the files as different? How does Duplicate Cleaner handle the event of corrupted files ?

Regards

There is no such thing as a "corrupted" file.
A file can only be corrupted in the context of the application that uses it.

When DC performs a "Same content" scan (methods which do include byte-to-byte), it does just that & any files that it finds as duplicated, in that mode, will in fact be duplicates.
