Inconsistent version numbers will result in immense confusion

Post by Callistemon »

For the subversion 13 out of 5, the MSI installer file, and the entry in Settings > Apps, reported as 5.0.0.13 while the program itself reported 5.0.13 in the Home tab. The Microsoft Store version reported as 5.13.0 in the Home tab within the program. Now the subversion 14 out of 5, is reporting as 5.14.0 with the MSI installer and in the program Home tab. This is a large increase in a short time. It took a while for there to be 4.1 after 4. It is probably supposed to be 5.0.14 and when there is a 5.1 there will be tons of confusion about that being less than 5.14.

The version numbering has changed so the MSI installer plays nicer and is consistent with the Windows store version - it's now Major version.Update number.

It's mentioned in the changelog here-
