I have a large directory called "duplicate" on a hard drive which I want to get rid of, its nearly all duplicated elsewhere on the same drive.
I reset computer, ran duplicate cleaner 4.1.4, file, new search, regular mode, same content, File filter included *.*, and size, any date (all the default options)
I add the hard drive to scan location and click start scan. In 6 seconds it scans 198g (v fast) and reports 3326 duplicate files.
In scan location I choose the directory "duplicate". I know there are duplicates both within it and in other directories on that drive.
Mark by location >Mark files in this folder that have duplicates elsewhere. (preserve ticked)
No files are marked for deletion.
I deliberately copied a file from another folder into "duplicate". Still zero duplicates found. I even unticked the “protect important system folders” Still no files found.
Any ideas? Should I uninstall and reinstall?

Re: not marking duplicates
Do you have any folders listed as 'Yes in the 'Protected' column in the 'Folders to search' list?
