Error showing results the type initializer threw an exceptio

Post by levpeker »

Ran a scan on the free version no problem. Upgraded to the Pro version and installed it and have not been able to see results for anything. Keeps saying the same thing "The type initializer for "l" Threw an exception" After if you try to run scan again it doesn't even start and gives the same error.

What OS?
What version of Duplicate Cleaner?

Without having a clue as to what the message might mean, I would...

There are two locations where Duplicate Cleaner stores data.
I would rename both, then start Duplicate Cleaner, run a simple, quick scan & see if that works successfully.

The locations are slightly different depending on OS (XP vs later).

In XP, places like these:

Code: Select all

C:\Documents and Settings\RUBEN\Application Data\DigitalVolcano
C:\Documents and Settings\RUBEN\Local Settings\Application Data\DigitalVolcano
Rename each:

Code: Select all

C:\Documents and Settings\RUBEN\Application Data\DigitalVolcano.OLD
C:\Documents and Settings\RUBEN\Local Settings\Application Data\DigitalVolcano.OLD
In Win7, you might need to hit %APPDATA%\Roaming (or somewhere around those parts) ?

Start Duplicate Cleaner & test.

This is currently an issue on some Windows Vista systems - we'll be issuing an update to fix it very soon!
