124 Dialog Box Error

Post by josejr »

Hello,

I have a job running where I have selected to move some duplicate files.

While Duplicate Cleaner is running I keep getting this dialog box that just has the number 124 and an OK button. The dialog boxes pile up also, that is I'll have to click ok through several of them. While this box is present Duplicate Cleaner stops processing files (it is still running, but has stopped processing files). Once I have clicked OK enough times, Duplicate Cleaner starts processing files again.

This results in me having to babysit this job, no fun.

What causes this error, and how is it resolved?

Here is a link to the screen shot of the error.

Thanks for the help!

Follow up - eventually the job crashed, and I had to restart the program. I am running Duplicate Cleaner on a pretty large data set. I just lost several hours of work. Now I have to spend a few more hours rescanning, adjusting the selection of files to remove, and attempting the job again. Very frustrating.

Sorry you are having trouble - is this version 3.1.3?

The pop up is a Windows error code, probably 124= &H7C = "The path in the source or destination or both was invalid."
It shouldn't pop up though- there was a piece of debug code that should have been removed.

Can you try the updated 3.1.4 beta? The memory performance is better and it won't have the pop-up message.

thanks!

I installed the beta and put back some of the duplicate data just for the sake of testing it out.

The new version flew through the job without any issues. I am very impressed.

Also, I really like the new File Removal interface.

Thanks again!
