Batch Scripts Removing NewLine Characters on Save

Whenever I save a batch script, the newline characters are getting dropped. Is there away around this? Here is an example replace pattern with the newline character.

$`//*T3#### - INVALID DATASET \n${Pre}DS030.WORK${Post}

Which version is this?
It seems to save ok with 2.1.
