Duplicate Cleaner 3.0

Post by DigitalVolcano »

There's a new Duplicate Cleaner coming!

From the upcoming version 3.0, Duplicate Cleaner will be splitting into two editions: Duplicate Cleaner Free and Duplicate Cleaner Pro.
Duplicate Cleaner 3 Free will still have all the power of the earlier versions, and won't have any restrictions or limits - it still does more than similar non-free programs. The new Pro version builds upon Duplicate Cleaner to add a host of exciting new features, including similar image finding, a duplicate folder view, zip file scanning, finding shared duplicates between archives, and more.

The new website is http://www.duplicatecleaner.com, where you can find more details on the upcoming release.

Hello -- I've been a faithful Duplicate Cleaner user for years!!! and I thank you very much for the software.

I've been to the "purchase" page for your paid version 3, and I would like to support you as a developer for such great software. (I've been doing fine with the free version, and probably don't even really need the upgrade, but I would like to show my support and purchase it anyhow...)

One question: how does your licensing work?? I am only a home user, but I do use the free DC for searching across my home computers (netbook, laptop, desktop, and portable backup drives) -- do I need a license for each machine, or would 1 license be okay for my small home network?

Thanks!!

The licensing is per user, so you are free to buy a copy and install it on your desktop, and laptop, etc. there is no restrictive DRM so your license doesn't get lost if you rebuild your machine.
Glad you like DC!

Hello,

I have used the free version for ages and regularly remove my customers accumulations of duplicate photos, music etc.

I am trialling the new paid version 3.0.1 and found a problem today when scanning the "My Documents" folder which is on a portable usb drive. Basically I used ubuntu to recover all the files off a customers drive and copy them onto the usb drive. I am using the program in 32Bit Windows 7 Ultimate.

The 'My Documents" folder in question is 29.2Gb and contains 1801 groups of duplicates.

The old free version finds lots of duplicates and allows me to remove them as per usual.

The new paid version (using regular mode with no customised searching) goes through the entire process and finds lots of duplicates and says it has finished. At that point a message pops up saying "Error building Duplicate Folders tree: Value was either too large or too small for an Int32" At this point I can't access any of the duplicates to remove them.

If I need to provide more information please ask and I'm also happy to help in any way I can to solve this issue (errr I am good at fixing computers but have no programming experience or desire) :-)

Regards,

Paul

Thanks for the bug report - we've now fixed this issue (displaying folder trees with >2GB files), and it will be in version 3.0.2 which will hopefully be available tomorrow.
