Dropdown to temporarily hide files from certain directories

Post by Callistemon »

In order to exclude duplicate files from a particular listed directory from showing in the results, such as if 3 directories are listed and the user wants to temporarily concentrate on duplicates between just 2 directories, the scan needs to be run all over again. Just as there is a dropdown for only showing files that are marked or groups that have marked files, there should also be another dropdown that allows the user to uncheck the boxes beside each directory to hide those files. In that dropdown, there should also be a box to hide groups that only contain protected files.

In version 5, files and their surrounding directories can be removed from the list by right clicking the file and then selecting "Drop selected from list", but unlike with a dropdown menu at the upper bar near the Selection Assistant button, items dropped through this method cannot be restored. Also, whenever a directory is dropped from the list, that only excludes a small specific folder, and there can be hundreds of individual folders to drop from the list in order to have the same effect as dropping an entire listed directory (one that was added to the list before scanning) from the list.

You can go via the 'Parent' submenu and select a higher directory, and then 'drop this folder tree'. (at least in version 4. This is currently missing in v5.0.12 and will be added in the next update)

There isn't an option for restoring them this way though.

You can filter as well, but only on one directory tree at a time

Maybe should restore the features?
"Import duplicate files list from CSV"
"Mark all files that duplicat this folder tree elsewhere"
"Mark the files in this folder tree that have duplicates elsewhere"
convenient and fast

"Mark the files in this folder tree that have duplicates elsewhere"
