Files that look the same are marked as duplicates

Post by dcwul62 »

Photos may look the same (e.g. when shot the same object at a very slightly different angle) but a number of them are marked as duplicates, even though:
the sizes are (very) different
the names are different

How come?

Thanks.

If you want to match the size and file name as well as the image you'll need to checkmark the 'Same file name' and 'Same size' settings.

In "Options" MD5 is selected. Frankly, I believed that files were be marked/listed as duplicates when MD5 hash would be the same.

Files are now listed as duplicates but MD5 are different.

See attachment. Both files are listed as duplicates, however, the MD5 are different.

later: I think I should select "Same content" (instead of "Similar content")
In case of "Similar Content", then MD5 serves no purpose I guess?

The Content comparison type only applies to Regular Mode->Same Content
