Hardlink Error: No valid target file in group 1

Post by psteel691 »

I am running Duplicate Cleaner Pro to check for duplicates on a Linux based Synoology DSM networked NAS

When I run duplicate finder against 2 folders, I find duplicates in these folders

I "check" 1 of the duplicates and then try to create hard links between the duplicates but get the above message as shown in the subject.

The actual message is :"Hardlink Error: \\PHOTO-HOME-MUS\Christmas\07012019Outside decorations-1.JPG : No valid target file in group 1" (or Group 2, 3 etc)[

I have confirmed that identical files exist in both folders.

Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to create hard links from a windows 10 PC on a NAS

You can't create hardlinks on a NAS - they only work on NTFS filesystems only (and not between drives).
