Deleting files, focus can get stuck on the dialog

Post by therube »

After deleting files, focus (actually, lack thereof) can cause DC to get stuck on the (out of view, Windows delete) dialog, making it appear that DC is non-responsive.

Whew.

So I was deleting some files (a lot of files, relatively time consuming)
So I was doing other stuff while that was going on
Oh, then what ?
At some point realized that DC had finished
Oh, then what ?
Not quite sure actually ?
DC presented its' "completion" window

But I could not interact with it

Turns out the Windows deletion dialog had made its way to the "background" (behind other windows that I'd been interacting with). And until I (found it &) clicked its' "OK", I wasn't able to close the DC completion (Delete, move, rename...) window.

It was awkward until I realized what was going on.

Windows dialog:

Code: Select all

(Windows) Finished deleting files.
30849 files have been deleted.
1888 folders have been removed.

(Not sure how to fix that one, unless you can "pin" the Windows dialog box to DC - anytime DC itself has focus?)

I think it is just one of the 'windows things'. Dialogs can get hidden if the system has been doing other stuff (or gone into sleep mode). Hopefully v5 should improve this - it tries to avoid dialogs and pop-ups, everything is done from the main window.
