File delete with Windows Shell off

Post by JBaxter »

Hello all,

I am deleting a large amount of duplicate files (1.2 million) from a NAS.We are deleting these through the application without using Windows Shell (As I read it was recommended for speed). After a day the application reported 10%. It has not updated in the last two days however. Are there certain % numbers that are reported (e.g. every 10%) or is it random?

The function is still working I was just wondering about the % being updated.

Thank you,

I notice the same behaviour with enormous network throughput Image
I uploaded a new image where you can see the server side(Linux) has the same load.

OK In my own case, I think I found what the issue is: Several "folders" exist inside a zip file. Compared with the unzipped version, these are listed separately as "folders" in the duplicate folders view. When selecting the folders in the zip file and deleting them, DC will re-zip the same file every single time it encounters a folder. This is rather inefficient and may explain the huge network traffic.
