Removing all but the FIRST (by filename) duplicate

Post by avinatbezeq »

Hello there,

First, allow me to compliment you for a GREAT and very useful product!

To the point: I'm comparing similar image files, using the Image Mode and "Very Close Match". I get 19 groups of duplicates, with 85 files that have duplicates. Great.

Now, the files are named sequentially: img-000001.jpeg, img-000002.jpeg and so on. I would like to keep the FIRST (by name) file in each group. I can use the Selection Assistant to "(Mark) all but one file in each group" but the file left unmarked is the last one, while I want it to be the first one!

Any ideas?

I haven't looked, but if you Unmark all, then resort by Name column, descending, then mark again, is that closer to what you want?
Looks like that will not do it.

(I'm not quite sure just what method is used to determine which file is left unselected, but I don't think it is "exactly" the last file, necessarily.)
