.ini files problematic

Post by dcoberlin »

I was using the mark by location function to mark about 50 files that duplicated the chosen folder. It found these files but it marked another 1800 .ini files! In the search filters Exclude box I typed .ini and re ran the program. It gave the same result.
I am tempted to delete the dang .ini files but no one can explain to me what would occur with these configuration files gone. Why can't I exclude them in search filter?

Did you set
*.ini
as an Excluded: filter - during the search?

Otherwise, in the Duplicated files list, you should be able to right-click, Unmark -> Unmark all files of this type (.ini).

You certainly would not want to arbitrarily remove all those .ini files without understanding what they contain, what they are used for & how removing them would affect the programs that use them. (Most probably storing settings associated with the particular programs.)
