Big difference in folder/file size

Post by lasarus »

I'm just getting rolling with Duplicate Cleaner and love it so far.

When DC does an index and search of my "MyPhotos" library on my Win8 machine, it shows it's processing 13931 files at 44.1 GB. When I "select all" the files in that library and do a Windows properties lookup, it shows 14,347 files at 110 GB. What would account for this big difference? I chose all subfolders on DC. I am running an "image" search, but all the files in this folder are images, and I verified it by showing hidden files.

I don't want to potentially miss a giant chunk of my images, and 66GB is a big number. Thoughts? Thanks!

It's possible that there is a subfolder with a system flag on it, and it is being excluded.

Try unchecking the 'Protect important system folders' option:
