Can't delete files, error "Unable to cast object as type..."

Post by dannybravia »

Hi all,

I just started using Duplicate Cleaner 4.0.5 (trial version), it looks really useful and well-designed!

However, I have a bug where I'm completely unable to delete any files.

I always get an error that says: " Error in DeleteDuplicateFiles: Unable to cast object of type 'FileOperation.NewFileOperation' to type '[] '. "

As an example:
1. I select and mark files in groups 1-17 of search results
2. I click "file removal"
3. In the "file removal" pop-up menu, I click "delete files"
4. "About to delete 17 files. Are you sure?"
4a. I click "Yes"
5. Now the error pops up!

The exact same error appears when trying to move, copy, or rename the files.

I'm on Windows 10, 64-bit. I've tried running the program in administrator mode, it still doesn't work. Thanks for your help!

Do you happen to have the "Creators Update" of Win10?

What search method, settings, are you using?

Does it work if you uncheck the 'Via Windows Shell' option?

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies. Unchecking "via windows shell" fixed it!

FYI, not using the Windows 10 Creator's Update.
