Suggestion about Image Metrics cache

If i undrerstand right now the program somehow decides about how long keeping image metrics cache and it cannot be controlled by user?
If you have very big folders with a hundreds of thousands of pictures...it takes many hours to genereate this image metrics base and every time this is big load for HDD.
It would be nice if there will be some option to generate and bind image metrics file to the specific folder, so that cache file will not be cleared automatically and with the possibility to manually update this file when content of the folder changes.
