I have not been able to find a way to clean up like this...
using the option "ignore existing marks":
1. I mark all smallest files
2. I mark all files with oldest modifications
-- now, that will leave a lot of groups with everything marked!
I do not know how to do the following (which would solve my problem):
3. Unmark all but one in each group (apparently the only support is to mark, not unmark, one in each group)
Likewise, if I filter groups with all files marked, then select all lines, I can not invert the marks for only the visible lines, the warning that it will affect the entire list is very counterproductive.
Probably like everybody else, I am waiting for version 4 (or some beta) that will allow me to work on really large sets of files. I'm talking about 10K here!

Allow to unmark with assistants
Re: Allow to unmark with assistants
Will this work... ?
1. mark smallest
2. mark oldest
Set Filter Marked: Group has mark
Set Selection Assistant, Work only on currently select rows
Highlight all files (using Group Has Mark, filter)
Selection Assitant | Mark | Select by Group | All but one file in each group
A warning says, "the operation will affect the entire list, not just the current filter", but I'm not sure that's the case, or at least I'm not understanding it ?
This may do what you're looking for?
(Experiment carefully ;-).)
