Re: Is it possible to run DC twice at the same time?
You can right-click the taskbar icon and click Duplicate Cleaner 5. The first instance will continue to be intact for as long as it remains open, and will not be affected by the second. However, if the first instance gets closed, you will not be able to restore it, as all new windows will restore th...

Re: Closing image preview after opening image changes focus to different instance
It actually does not minimize the instance with the image preview being closed. It only brings forward whatever window is behind it, which may be Duplicate Cleaner or something else. If the window behind is not maximized, the background window will appear above Duplicate Cleaner, and minimizing the ...

Re: Uncontrolled memory usage with RAW images
It is not specific to any image file. There can be thousands of JPG images that do not cause the error. Maybe 20 to 50 when scrolling through thumbnails, but less when loading a column of image previews.

Uncontrolled memory usage with RAW images
Although there is normally no reason to complain about the memory usage of Duplicate Cleaner, scrolling through large thumbnails of RAW images caused the memory load to reach 97%, with 16 GB of memory. The application should pause, and have a message requesting to have other applications closed. Unl...

Also, the left and right arrows above the right sidebar of the image preview to not deactivate when the groups reach the end.

Re: Closing image preview after opening image changes focus to different instance
An error occurred when attempting to diagnose how exactly the error was occurring. It does not require two instances of Duplicate Cleaner. If there is only one instance, the one window just minimizes to any other application that is behind it, or the desktop. It was just that the other instance of D...

Closing image preview after opening image changes focus to different instance
A second error discovered tonight, is that if two instances of Duplicate Cleaner 5 are running, opening an image preview in one, right-clicking an image to open, and then closing the image preview switches the background window to the other instance. This does not occur when the image preview is clo...

Image previewer context menu applies to current image when right-clicking other images
Another small error was discovered while previewing similar images. When one image is currently displayed in the large space and is highlighted on the right sidebar of the image preview window, right-clicking a different image in the sidebar provides a context menu that actually applies to the curre...

Re: Optimalization and possibility to pre-hash?
Searching and discovering files is a basic first step that occurs at the beginning of each scan. Only the hashes of duplicate files are saved. There is no need to save hashes of files that are not duplicates, as other parameters rule out non-duplicate files before hashes. In the event that another f...

Re: Speed up for very large fragmented and duplicated music collection
I'm guessing dividing and conquering would be quicker - pick a definitive directory tree, dedupe it internally (scan against self), set it to master then add another other tree as external if V5 used (V4 scan against self not needed), then merge them into the master (single tree, or as a separate m...
